Happy Holidays to our Powerstown ETNS community. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and a joyful new year.
We look forward to welcoming you back to school on the 6th of January.
It was an eerie start to the school term in August 2020. I would like to express my appreciation to the amazing staff here in Powerstown ETNS who came in during the summer holidays to prepare the school for opening. Staff ensured we had our Covid Response Plan in place and that they could safely and responsibly comply with this plan. Staff participated in health and safety training as well as training in restorative practices. Due to staff’s dedication and generosity with their time and energy we were in a positive and energised state, and well prepared to safely re-open our school for our school community.
Thank you to all our parents, guardians pupils and friends for adapting to our new routines and procedures in the school since we reopened. We really appreciate your support, understanding and the feedback you have given us to keep our school community safe
We have had a fantastic Term 1 here in Powerstown ETNS. Highlights from the classes in our weekly newsletters show you some of the amazing work happening in the classrooms and the outdoors; Debating competitions, Stop Motion Vidoes, Weather forecasting, Antartica projects, Winter Wonderland Aistear themes, completing Marathon Kids, projects on the Industrial Revolution and Greece, cycling, rugby just to mention a few. The work on display in the classrooms and corridors in phenomenal. A big congratulations to all our students for all their dedication and hard work this term!
We have also been selected as a Nuture Pilot School & as a STREAM school. We will share more information about this in Term 2.
A big shout out to our PTA for putting a committee and action plans in place for our priorities for the year. The weekly PTA updates in our newsletter is ensuring our school community are well informed of their activities. Congratulations to the PTA on a hugely successful “Virtual Pet Show.” that raised enough fund for the purchase of 2 ipads. THANK YOU to the school community for supporting this event.
We are all acutely aware of the risks surrounding us with the Coronavirus. We have shared guidelines and advice from the Department of Foreign Affairs re travel, Department of Education and Department of Health in relation to keeping safe this holiday season. We are delighted to report all those negatively impacted by the virus in our school to date date have recovered, and are doing well. As a community we were relieved to not experience a cluster of cases in the school. We know when we return, we must be extra vigilant to protect each other, and we will be in touch with if any new guidelines are released.
If you have need get in touch with the school due to a positive Covid-19 case over the break please email email@example.com. This email address will be monitored daily over the holidays.
In the interim, stay safe, be happy and enjoy the festive season!
