We are still waiting for details from Bus Éireann as to when some children’s names will be added to the school bus route. We continue to contact Bus Éireann and the Department of Education Transport Unit daily to try and get the bus operational as a matter of urgency.

In the interim, the Department of Education have confirmed that they will pay you a grant for the duration of time that the bus is not operational.

This grant is distance based on the four journeys parents/guardians takes each day at 0.3912 cent per kilometre.
For example if you are travelling from Drumcondra to Tyrrelstown the distance is 19km. (http://www.distancesfrom.com/ie). You calculate your daily grant by multiplying daily distance (19km) x 4 (trips parents make daily) x 0.3912 (cent per km)
19×4 x0.3912 = €29.73 per day.

This grant will be paid to each parent/guardian from 29th of August 2018 until the date bus collects your child f or the first time. Parents/Guardians will be asked to submit a form to Department of Education transport unit to make the grant claim when bus starts or to email Celine Donoghue. Her email is celine_donoghue@education.gov.ie. Her phone number is 01 9325461.

We apologise for the serious inconvenience this is causing you and we are doing our utmost to get the school bus in place as soon as possible.

If you have any queries, please contact the school on 01 8272018 or info@powerstownet.com
