It will be World Teachers’ Day on Saturday October 5 – an annual event celebrated in over 100 countries around the world. This is a day to honor teachers and teacher organizations. Teachers make a vital contribution to the education and development of our future leaders.
So today, we the PTA on behalf of all the parents and families of Powerstown would like to join in that celebration and acknowledge and show our deepest appreciation for all of your hard work, commitment and efforts you give and show to our children. A very big THANK YOU!!

From all the parents and families of the children of Powerstown Educate Together National School.

A bit of history: UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) proclaimed October 5 to be World Teachers’ Day in 1994, celebrating the great step made for teachers on October 5, 1966, when a special intergovernmental conference convened by UNESCO in Paris adopted the UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, in cooperation with the ILO
