Following on from the engagement with the Aldi Rugby stickers campaign; our visit from Leinster Rugby during Active Schools Week last June as well as their ongoing work with 6th class at present, and the fact that Ireland were the world number one team entering the World Cup, we decided to build on the growing interest in rugby in the school by showing the first and last few minutes of the Ireland – v – Russia game on Thursday! In class, all children learned Ireland’s Call, the Irish rugby anthem, listened to the Russian anthem and examined the locations and geography of Ireland, Russia and Japan (the host nation) on the map! In the end Ireland were deserved winners, winning 35 – 0. Our cheering and singing was definitely heard all the way in Kobe, Japan!
