We are thrilled to announce that courtesy of Biodiversity for Schools and sponsored by Glenveagh Construction, we are the national winners of the 2023 Nature Hero Award for our work in our school garden and our efforts to promote and develop local biodiversity! 200 schools were involved this year so this is a huge achievement for us!

The Nature Hero Award is a national programme for biodiversity, gardening and education that requires schools to complete a large number of tasks to be considered for the award. These included planting hedgerow, developing habitats for pollinators, growing fruit and vegetables, developing waste management systems and establishing a school culture of nature education.

As well as winning the award, we have also won €10,000 to spend on our garden! We have already started brainstorming some projects we would like to complete using this money such as a wildlife pond and a renovation of our sensory garden, among others. Stay tuned for news on the development of our school garden and a massive well done to our School Garden Committee!
